Hot Flashes
"hot flashes", which may or may not be accompanied by sweating at night or during sleep, are one of the most common complaints of women who are undergoing the transition of menopause. severity and frequency can vary quite a bit, from one or two flushes per day with no perspiration, to multiple *hot!* flashes per hour which are accompanied with sweating, maybe fatigue. in my practice i find dietary and lifestyle recommendations, combined with a chinese medicine treatment plan of acupuncture & daily chinese medical herbs, can make a real difference in reducing the impact of hot flashes during a woman's transition. and while most women hate to hear it - those nightly glasses of red wine aren't helping the situation. neither are the second, third, or fourth cup of coffee. both of these delicious pleasures introduce the energies and properties of heat into your body. please see the changes to the dietary suggestions sections of this site as it develops. i intend for this page, with the rest of the site, to grow as time, energy, and information allow. i recently blogged about recent medical research on hot flashes and acupuncture, please read for more information!
